Yonder 2020
We hold a deep gratitude for the circumstances that permitted us to proceed in this tumultuous year with the pandamic impacting the world. We feel great value in the community that is forming around our gathering in the hills and thank each and every one of you for your contributions to this shared moment in time.
We have all learned a great deal about ourselves and the things that we value. For us, this has strengthened our commitments to building a safe, inclusive space for all of us to come together. To share in the words, lyrics, colour, and movement contributed by the artists throughout the program. The energy created by the audience and the artists was particularly powerful this year, providing us with some of the experiences that we have been waiting patiently for.
From the dazzling theatrical activations, the sonic genius from musicians, the broad array of talented visual artists, DJ takeovers stacked full of tunes, so many fantastic workshops and a site wide puzzle! But most importantly, the unforgettable memories made. We are so overwhelmed with everyone’s support, the energy was infectious. Everyone on site was kind, accommodating, inclusive and left the farm looking just as spectacular as when we arrived.
We can’t wait to see you again.
With 50+ incredible live acts, Yonder offered something for everyone. Every artist on the program brought their absolute A game. You could clearly see that it wasn’t only the audience who had been missing festivals. Focused on local Queensland acts due to COVID came as a blessing, allowing us to showcase some of the most exciting bands in or entering the local scene.
There wasn’t one act that was not heckled for an encore.
The debut of the new Hill Stage, carrying us through the transition into night saw some incredible acts poised above the beautiful Kabi Kabi/Gubbi Gubbi country. The pilgrimage up the Hill was made worth it by the production value and incredible sound from everyone who performed.
Yonderland, the incredibly designed home for our Wunderbar, workshop tent and DJs this year presented as the go to place to chill out and catch some great unes. The DJ treehouse surrounded by the Temple of Odd light show was incredible to witness. Facilitating DJ takeovers from some of our favourite local party groups, Yonderland was a pumping heart of the festival.
The amphitheatre this year was nudged into a grove of pine trees allowing afternoon acts full shade. Acts owned the Amphitheatre stage, delivering electrifying performances, inducing the best kind of goosebumps.
We are always so proud to present a diverse visual arts program but at the festival this year, with live painting, workshops and all kinds of installations happening everywhere throughout the festival grounds we were blown away. So many incredible skills and creative ideas coming together and creating amazing things. From site wide puzzles, art walls, sculptural work, full structures, light shows, visual/dance performances and even a church? We are in awe and so appreciative of all the visual artists that helped create Yonder this year.
We wanted to say another big thank-you to our supporters and collaborators, the festival of course would not have happened this year without them.
Young Henrys stocking the bar full of their quenching drinks, Twisted Pair for their incredible light and sound production, C&M Staging for giving our incredible performances a great space.
We were grateful to team up with the Red Octopus for their printing, so a huge thank you to those who grabbed a shirt.
The insanely talented Chris Mangos created all of the Yonder artwork, from the map to this year’s platypus artwork and the tshirts!
That’s about it from us, we are so filled with gratitude for the weekend that was. We honestly cannot explain how it feels to have been able to bring everyone together again for Yonder 2020. Thank you all for making Yonder such a safe, inclusive and respectful place for artists, punters, volunteers alike. Thank you for respecting the land and leaving the site as pristine as you found it. Especially thank you for respecting the Covid procedures and supporting Brisbane Acts by joining us at Yonder 2020.
Best wishes,
The Yonder team.
