Appearing in a funk-heavy haze of electro-pop, coated in sugary synth textures and spangled with pinpoints of dazzling disco elements arrives Kalopsia, a 19 year old artist from Meanjin/Brisbane.
The enrapturing musical project of singer-songwriter, Maia Efstathis, effortlessly melds electro-pop/ pop-funk and space disco to create sonic experiences defined by groovy basslines, hypnotic synths and intoxicating disco rhythms.
Alongside her band of 6, Kalopsia creates a compelling live performance with her airy vocals that melt mysteriously into her electronic funk world. Enhanced by futuristic costuming/makeup, Kalopsia also creates a striking visual experience that is conceptual and otherworldly, adding to the theatrics of the show. With her two backup vocalists (“Zade” and “Monet”) she performs choreographed dance routines that add to the energetic playfulness of the set.
