CARLO XAVIER
Melbourne based DJ Carlo Xavier, co-founder of Sabrosa and curator for world renowned Re-issue label Analog Africa, focussing on unchartered sounds from Africa, Amazonia and Caribbean regions, draws from a tropically soaked sound scape drenched in untamed rhythms and dance floor cadence, infamous for setting the party on fire. Collecting inspiration from his off the tourist trap travels in South America and family heritage in Portugal, you will hear a deep range of future music & amp; edits of rhythms from Portuguese speaking nations such as Semba, from Angola, Batidas from the ghettos of Lisboa and Brazilian beats from the North, leaving no ancestral stone unturned.
Sabrosa was formed in early 2011 after years of back and forth from Brazil and Colombia bringing rare sounds to feet in the Brisbane underground, hosting parties in warehouses and secret locations under the stars. Carlo has since gone on to co-curate compilations for German based label, Analog Africa. With releases such as Los Diablos Del Ritmo from Colombia, Mestre Cupijo, Camarao and Jambu, Os Miticos Sons da Amazonia from Northern Brazil, making the New York Times in 2013 and Jambu, recently played on air by the legendary Iggy Pop on BBC Radio.
Now residing in Melbourne with close connection to Brazil, Carlo continues to discover his own sound alongside the likes of El Gran Mono, Colombian Sound System and Jungle Juice crew with Cassawarrior. Stay on the pulse for a long coming independent beats Collab release.
