Miles Brown is an Australian theremin player, composer, producer and sound artist. Working with the ethereal interface of the gesturally-controlled theremin, he conjures unique emotional landscapes that query the relationships between space, sound, electronics and the body. Through composition, performance and cross-disciplinary collaboration, he develops new contexts for theremin that both expand upon and subvert its traditional uses. Known for his work with groundbreaking Melbourne acts The Night Terrors and The Narcoleptor, Brown’s latest solo work transports the theremin to the heart of the dance floor – reimagining its mysterious interface as an electro-magical conduit for the opening of forbidden portals and the summoning of subversive spirits.
