Zaide
Zaide is a self-taught artist whose work is characterised by large swathes of vibrant oil paint applied with palette knives. The work touches on themes of identity and self-perception while reckoning with a loss of connection to the future expected of young adults in Australian culture. Visceral, swirling compositions invite the viewer to dive into the solitary state in which Zaide’s paintings were created.
Zaide has been working as a professional artist in Brisbane since 2019. He has featured in and hosted numerous art exhibitions as part of the emerging art scene in Brisbane. His work has been selected as a finalist in some of Queensland’s most prestigious art prizes including the Brisbane Portrait Prize and the Lethbridge 20,000 Art Award. Zaide’s practice has been recognized and featured in publications such as No Order and Tirade Magazine.
